Fractional Skin Resurfacing: This is reported as the number one anti-aging breakthrough by WebMD. This type of laser skin treatment addresses a specifically targeted area with laser light to reduce facial lines and wrinkles, tighten skin, improve acne scaring, renew skin tone and texture, rejuvenate sun damaged skin, and diminish age spots.
Fractional skin resurfacing rejuvenates and stimulates new collagen growth of the skin, causing far less trauma than preceding laser treatments. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia and sedation and yields a minimized healing process with few side effects.
Venus (erbium) laser peels, also known as exfoliating therapies, are a fast and efficient method of removing old and damaged skin cells and enhancing the vitality and clarity of the skin. By delivering a laser beam to the surface of the skin, the outermost layer is removed with precision to stimulate the production of collagen, creating a tightened and smoother appearance. This procedure is simple and minimally invasive. Whereas microdermabrasion can remove 10 microns of surface, a light “lunchtime peel” can remove 30 microns, and a medium “weekend peel” can remove 60 microns. For medium peels, a topical anesthetic is applied to the face for 30-40 minutes.
Following a laser peel, a cool compress may be applied to improve comfort, as the healing process typically lasts from two-to-five days, depending on the depth of the peel. The treated areas will resemble varying degrees of sunburn and then peel out fresh skin. Additionally, a sunblock must be worn daily after treatment. A healing ointment is to be applied at night for the first three days after treatment.
